About Love’s Not Zero Sum

It started with simple sketches: veins on the back of a hand, linked vertebrae, curving ribs, the female reproductive system. Forms drawn from our own biology.

One day, a friend saw one of those drawings and he had a powerful emotional reaction. Why did this image touch him so deeply? As more people encountered the art, the same thing happened again and again. Each person brought their own story, their own resonance; people don't all see the same thing.

One person sees two women. Another sees anatomy. Someone else sees equality, sisterhood, motherhood, feminine power, vulnerability, politics, beauty, and some things we never imagined. Sometimes peoples' reactions are completely opposite. And yet they're all looking at the same image.

That became the idea behind Love's Not Zero Sum.

Maybe we don't have to see the same thing to be curious about what someone else sees. Maybe we don't have to agree to connect. Maybe the things that make us different don't have to take anything away from what we share.

And then there's what happens next.

A card gets handed to someone who needs to hear something good. A stranger becomes a conversation. Someone discovers a way to put their caring into action. An everyday hero gets noticed. A small act becomes a story.

Love's Not Zero Sum is an experiment in what happens when we put more good into circulation: when we make room for curiosity, connection, generosity, and the many ways people can show up for one another.

Because love isn't a limited resource.

Neither is kindness.

And when one person gets more, it doesn't mean someone else gets less.

There's room for all of us.
